1. Introduction: What's your story?
Music was always a part of our household growing up...I was frequently dancing around my bedroom or putting together a choreographed dance routine to entertain guests or neighbors passing by. I couldn't wait to use my allowance to buy my next cassette tape. (yep - I just dated myself! haha) Fast forward to college... I fell in with a group of DJs and was soon offered a chance to give DJing a try! Never thought of it in a million years.
I was hooked to the energy and excitement I found behind the decks...controlling the energy in the room and seeing the crowd's reactions is blissful! I worked for several multi-op companies for a number of years until one day I decided to start my own solo-op business with the intention of it being part-time, however, it bloomed into a full-time business and now 7 years later I'm still going strong! Not only DJing weddings, but also corporate events, private events, and traveling all over the world as Guest Entertainer DJ on cruise ships! It's been a wild journey!
2. What's your experience as a wedding DJ? How many weddings have you done?
I have been DJing weddings for about 16 years...I've lost count of how many weddings I've DJd...haha! Weddings don’t deserve a lame human jukebox.... they deserve a music mixology experience that creates a fun and fresh vibe, a seamless flow of music artistry, and feels authentic! As a Wedding DJ + Event Host, I specialize in helping couples make their wedding shine through creating energy, continuity, uplifting engagement, and bringing the pieces together to be stress-free and keeps smiles glowing all night long. Your wedding music soundtrack will not sound like any other. It will be curated and mixed to sound personalized to you both and emit an energy that feels like you are falling in love for the first time again.
3. How far in advance do couples need to book your services?
It all depends on my availability so there isn't a right or wrong time to book - farther in advance is always better! 6- 12months before your wedding date.
4. What's your rate? What does that include?
My wedding price is $2500 which includes:
O Creating, planning, and personalization of your wedding music soundtrack
O DJ Dayna performance time of up to 6 hours
O Premium sound system + wireless microphones, plus a wedding chic white DJ stand
O Enhanced party lighting that will boost the dance floor with colorful energy
O DJ Assistant to support Dayna with the behind the scenes details
O Equipment setup and breakdown
Then you can choose a la carte items like live musicians, uplighting, and additional equipment if needed to enhance your wedding experience.
5. Are you available to travel if needed?
Sure am! I've DJ'd a number of Destination weddings!
6. How would you describe your style?
Classy, fresh, & pure high vibe energy!
7. What's your backup plan if there's an equipment malfunction? Do you bring backup equipment?
I always have backup equipment to use if anything were to go wrong.
8. What's your sick day policy?
Since I am a solo-op business I do get asked this question...I give clients the peace of mind that if I'm unable to perform, I have a few other professional DJs who I trust that I can call upon to cover for me. I have to admit I've never missed one wedding in the 16 years of DJing!
9. How do you motivate a shy crowd to dance? What do you do to motivate the crowd if nobody is dancing?
After being in this industry for as long as I have, I'm a big believer you can't make people dance and that isn't my job as a DJ. There are some people who just aren't dancers and don't want to be motivated to dance, they are happy as a clam to sit and tap their toes to the music and watch others dance! I let the music speak and infuse the energy and souls of the people in the room. If I'm DJing my lil heart out and scan the room and see people moving to the music in their own way whether they are standing, sitting, or on the dance floor I know I'm doing my job right.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
It is very detailed and outlined in my contract. Here is the policy if the client wants to cancel:
Termination by Client. If this Agreement is terminated or the Services are canceled by Client in writing to DJ Dayna at least 60 calendar days before the Event, Client will be issued a refund of all amounts paid less the nonrefundable deposit. In all other cases, the Client is obligated to make full payment of the total amount due under this Agreement, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the termination.
