1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hi There!
I am so glad you are here! I am Sheilan, the owner + head designer at Yarrow & Spruce. And I am here to tell you that flowers should never be stressful. I believe that good floral design impacts you in unexpected, magical ways, and that life is always better with flowers. So sit back, relax, and get ready for the magic.
Some of my earliest memories are centered around flowers. As a child, I would spend afternoons helping my dad in his garden. The smell of geraniums still takes me back to those warm Colorado afternoons helping him dead-head his massive petunia plants. I would create dandelion flower crowns, and gather wildflowers from along the creek by our house, and imagine what my wedding bouquet might look like someday.
Life can take you fun and unimaginable places, and during my twenties I found myself traveling all around the world with my soon-to-be husband, Ian. I was addicted to the adventure of seeing new places, trying new foods, learning new languages, and meeting new people.
But all along the way, I never stopped noticing the flowers. Tulip stands in the spring along highways in the Pacific Northwest. Marigold fields bursting into flame for Day of the Dead in Oaxaca, Mexico. Blooming lotus ponds reflecting the Buddhist temples in Emei Shan, China. Cherry blossom lined river walks in Osaka, Japan. A botanic garden overflowing with roses in a rainbow of colors in Lyon, France.
I began working professionally with flowers in the January of 2018 under a highly regarded boutique florist in Denver. In May of 2021 I decided to begin my own flower adventure, and created Yarrow & Spruce Floral Company.

2. What's your experience as a wedding florist business? How many weddings are in there in your portfolio?
I opened Yarrow & Spruce Floral Company opened in May of 2021, and in my first year as an independent floral design, I did 19 weddings! Prior to 2021, I began working with a high end boutique florist in January 2018. With that florist, we would average 2-3 wedding per months, and 2-3 elopements every week. Besides the owner, I was the lead designer.
3. How far in advance do couples need to secure your services?
For wedding during peak wedding season (May-October), I strongly recommend couples to reach out at least 6 months in advance, but the earlier the better. Yarrow & Spruce's 2022 wedding season is almost completely booked up, and I am accepting bookings into 2023!
4. How do you price your floral arrangements? What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
Full service wedding packages begin at $3,000 and all quotes are custom. Yarrow & Spruce curates all designs unique to the couple, and there is no menu.
5. How many meetings will you have with the couple, and how will they be involved?
The Yarrow & Spruce process is as follows:
Reach out: Provide me with some information about your wedding.
Custom Proposal: Based on the information you provide, I will draft up a preliminary proposal to make sure we are a good fit for each other!
Secure Your Date: If you feel like I'm a good fit for your event, don't wait to secure your date!
Consultation: Let's chat to finalize the details of your event. Once you have booked your event, you have two consultations available to make significant changes to your proposal. Additional consultations are subject to additional charges.
Execution: Sit back & relax while I design something stunning for you!
6. Who else is in your team and how many people on your staff will be at the wedding?
Yarrow & Spruce is a one woman show, composed of me, Sheilan, the owner! But don't let that fool you. When the pressure is on, and I am swimming in a sea of flowers, I lean on my community, including my husband (he's an amazing designer + helps me pull off large scale floral installations), my family (I come from a family of hospitality people!), and some of Denver's greatest florist (we are a flower community!).
The team needed for your event will be determined by the amount of floral items purchased, but on average is 2-4 people (including myself).
7. How would you describe your design style? (e.g. traditional, modern, rustic, organic)
My preferred floral style is working with whatever is in season! Colorado is so fortunate to have an amazing selection of local flower farms, and I find whenever a couple is open to their floral design being tied to seasonality, the results are outstanding. In addition to their unparalleled beauty, local flowers are often more sustainable + environmentally conscious.
8. Who will handle setup and delivery? What other services do you offer?
Most deliveries + setups are overseen by myself, with the assistance of my hand selected team. On occasion, basic deliveries (without setup) will be handled by one of my trusted team members.
In addition to delivery + setup, Yarrow & Spruce offers decor rentals (like candles, candle holders, and decorative vases) as well as strike (or tear down), for an additional cost.
9. What happens to the flowers after the wedding?
After your wedding, the flowers are yours to enjoy should you choose!
If you and your partner have paid for strike from the Yarrow & Spruce team, any items left at the end of the night will be gathered and disposed of. Depending on the circumstances, we sometimes donate leftover flowers to services in our community, or compost them.
There will be an additional charge for any rental items (vases or candles) that are not returned, or returned damaged.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
To secure your date, Yarrow & Spruce requires a 30% non-refundable deposit. Your deposit goes towards your final balance. Should your even be cancelled or postponed, you will not receive a refund. However if your event is moved to a new date, and Yarrow & Spruce is available, we will honor your deposit for your new date!
