10 Questions with Lidia Win

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hello! My name is Lidia Win, leader of bridal4thewin. I have been doing makeup and hair for 10 years now. I did makeup and hair through out college to earn some extra income. However, when I graduated from ASU with a Bachelor's in Biochemistry and decided that science was not the path for me. I thoroughly enjoy making others feel and look good so I decided to start freelancing.

I did a lot of editorial work which includes music videos, magazine shoots, commerical shoots, short films, and of course weddings. I eventually became so busy and booked that I needed assistance which led me to build a team of artists. We eventually grew so much that we have won a few awards which is really cool. Bridal4theWin would be nothing without our most devoted and talented artists. I am so grateful for them and proud to lead such an amazing team.

With our team we are able to accommodate any bridal party size while providing the best hair and makeup services to our brides. Our team is very well trained and versatile. I always try to match our bride's style to an artist who can execute the desired look for them. We truly love serving our brides and making them feel all the more special on their wedding day.

2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?

I personally have been doing makeup & hair for 10 years while Bridal4theWin has been around since 2015. We average about 3-8 weddings per weekend during peak season. I'm not sure of the exact number of brides we have provided services for but its definitely in the few 100's considering how long we have been in business.

3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

We have 4 different artists levels you can choose from.

Our first artist level are our silver artists. Silver artists typically have less experience than our gold and platinum stylists. They have about 1-3 years experience in the industry. This package includes false strip eyelashes but does not include airbrush makeup.

Our second artist level are our gold artists. This is our most popular artist level in which brides book. Our gold artists have honed their skills over many years with a wide variety of clientele and have more experience than our silver stylists. Typically gold artists have about 4+ years experience. This package includes false eyelashes & airbrush makeup.

Our third artist level are our platinum artists. Platinum Artists are our most experienced professionals, with vast experience, published work, and high profile clientele. Platinum artists have at least 8 or more years of experience. This package includes false strip eyelashes, airbrush and a face mask before makeup application.

Lastly, our last artist level is our diamond artist. Our diamond artist is myself Lidia Win. I have over ten years of experience with training under some industry greats such as Khloe Kardashian's Styled by Hrush, KYK hair, and Alena Famina.

4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?

It really depends on how many services are booked for the wedding day. However, you are generally guaranteed at least 2 artists for the wedding day.

We do have a team of 13+ artists; so, in the case of any unforeseen circumstances you will have an artist there on the wedding day to provide your beauty services.

5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

Our rates are inclusive. We travel up to a 40 mile radius of our Scottsdale studio. Anything outside of this radius we do charge an additional travel fee. It just really depends how far the location is but we have done weddings in Florence, Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff and even Havasu. We serve anywhere we can.

6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?

Absolutely!

We always recommend getting a trial prior to the wedding date as we want to make sure you vibe the artist you are assigned. This is also a great time for brides to figure out what they really like on themselves. Sometimes a makeup or hairstyle can really look great on a model or in pictures but in real like it does always look they way you would think. I always recommend going with a look that you feel comfortable with. For example, if you wear your hair down everyday you might not love your hair all the way up for the wedding day. Or if you never wear foundation you might not want full coverage for the day of. So these are things to talk about during your trial.

We guarantee all trials; so, if you are unhappy with your assigned artist you will receive a complimentary re-trial with another artist. We always want to make sure you feel confident and beautiful on your special day!

7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?

All of our artists provide their own kit. Everyone uses a variety of different brands. These products range from drug store brands like loreal to high end brands like Dior. We also use a lot of professional brands such as Ben Eye or Temptu. So it just really depends on the artist.

We always recommend to our brides that if there's specific product they absolutely love to please bring it in for our artists to use on them. We also have all our clients bring their own lip color the day of to touch up with.

8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?

Makeup really starts with the skin. Unfortunately, makeup does not hide texture- it does actually extenuates texture. For skin prep I always tell my brides to make sure they are eating whole foods and drinking lots of water. Skin really does start from the inside. On top of a healthy diet you can also take collagen peptides to help with fine lines. As for acne prone skin, tee tree oil is the best treat meant to get those stubborn blemishes to subside.

We really don't have any issues with our makeup applications not lasting the whole day. This is why we do trials so we can see what we need to adjust for the day of.

9. How long will makeup take on the day and how long will you be staying for on the day?

We typically like to allot a 5 hour time frame for getting the whole bridal party ready. We normally finish earlier but having the extra cushion of time really does help. The 5 hour time frame budgets for any bridal party members arriving late or if someone wants to change their hair style.

We average 30 mins per service for the bridal party and we allot an hour per service for the bride. Our artists will leave when they are done with services unless they are scheduled for touch ups.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

We ask to be notified as soon as possible if there are any changes in the wedding date. You are able to add or subtract services up to 30 days or the event date. After the 30 days, you may only add services.

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds. If a client chooses to cancel, they choose to forfeit the retainer fee. Although the retainer fee is non refundable, it will always serves as a credit to our services. You can always use it for any hair and makeup services (for example date night or a girls night out). We also have a sister company called Lash4theWin in which you can use the credit towards lash extensions as well.
