10 Questions with Sophia

1. Introduction: What's your story?

I jumped into Makeup just over a decade ago, always focusing on the editorial and on-set side of the world. Through this, I unintentionally fell in love with session Hair Styling, working so closely alongside such talented stylists. Rounding out the beauty trifecta, while still doing Makeup and Hair Stying, now for both shoots and bridal/events, I completed my Esthetics training, becoming a Licensed Esthetician in Washington and Arizona.

Having come from that editorial/fashion background, whether it be hair, makeup, lashes, brows or skin, I always strive to let natural features and beauty shine! While we all live for a super glam moment (brb, flying away with my triple stacked lashes), fresh glowy skin, fluffy full brows, and chic “cool girl” hair is totally the SHB vibe. Making sure every individual client’s style, personality and unique beauty is highlighted, is forever priority number one.

2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?

While I was incredibly lucky to begin my bridal career assisting amazing stylists about 7 years ago, I began Sophia Hutch Bridal about 4 years ago. Almost immediately my schedule filled, and since then I have been blessed beyond words to have found myself helping brides get ready for their big day's 2-3 days a week, 3-4 weekends a month, for 6 months of the year. This equates to about 200 brides, who have all been extraordinary in their own way.

3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

To allow me to be as flexible as possible, all services are booked individually, rather than within any set packages.

4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?

I do have an amazing team of stylists who I will book as needed, based on the amount of services and the timeline. While I would trust all of the stylists that I work with to do my own personal bridal hair or makeup, I personally always style the Bride.

5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

The first 20 miles from 85015 (Midtown Phoenix) is included. $1/mile beyond, roundtrip does accrue. For larger parties requiring additional stylists, any travel fees multiply per stylist.

6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?

Absolutely!

7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?

I exclusively use products that have been tried, tested and put through the ringer, not only for overall appearance and weartime, but also (and so importantly) for skin/eye sensitivity. While I stand behind every product that goes into my kit, should a bride have any products that they prefer to use, I am more than happy to integrate them into the hair or makeup look.

8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?

Absolutely!

9. How long will makeup take on the day and how long will you be staying for on the day?

Bridal makeup is booked for 60 minutes. Should a bride prefer that I stay on site for touchups, this can be booked at $50/hr, beginning after the final service has been completed.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

I totally understand that life happens, and cancellations are unavoidable at times! With this, I try to be as forgiving as possible: more than 2 weeks out, there are no cancellation fees. Under 2 weeks out, 50% of services booked will be charged. Under 1 week out, 100% of services booked will be charged.
