1. Introduction: What's your story?
I am Janea, professionally known as Faced By Janea, is an Emmy Award-Winning Makeup Artist and Male Groomer servicing a variety of fields including Celebrities, TV/Film Productions, Corporate Events, Red Carpets, News/Sports Broadcasts, Political Ads, Bridal Occasions, Maternity Shoots, Fit Modeling, Runway, Pageants, Editorial, and even Deceased individuals, bringing versatility and expertise to every project making myself highly sought-after in the beauty industry.
My self-taught journey into the world of makeup began in 2013 during a personal transition from law enforcement while battling postpartum depression. Makeup became an outlet, leading to a full-time pursuit in 2015. In addition to my diverse expertise, I am the Founder and Owner of Faced By Janea Makeup Studio in Oakland, CA. This studio was designed to give everyday clients a luxurious and intimate experience, making professional makeup accessible to all.

2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?
It is my greatest honor to be chosen as the Makeup Artist for one of the best and most important days in a brides life. Since 2015, my talent and dedication has earned accolades, including a News and Documentary Emmy Award in 2024 as well as an Global Wedding Award being recognized as the Best Bridal Makeup Artist in The San Francisco Bay Area, and one of the Top Bridal Makeup Artists in the State of California. With hundreds of weddings under my belt, I have become a trusted name in the industry.
3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
I offer three Bridal Party Packages (Do & Go, Half Day and Full Day), with my most popular being the Half Day Bridal Package. Brides who choose this package, love knowing that no matter weather conditions, if they cry, sweat or get oily, Ill be right there for touchups so every photo taken will be flawless.
4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?
Throughout my career as a Professional Makeup Artist, I have built a team of the BEST Makeup Artist, Hair Stylist and Barbers which ensures every member of the Bridal and Grooms team is taken care of.
5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
There is a travel fee applied any time I need to service a client outside of my makeup studio. Travel fees vary based on distance. I travel up to 160 miles by car. For destination weddings beyond 160 miles, air fare and hotel stays are at the expense of the Bride
6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?
Bridal Trials/ Consultations are highly recommended but never required. This particular appointment is dedicated to finalizing the wedding day Makeup look.
7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?
I have a wide variety of prestige products to drug store brands. Each product serve a purpose for different skin types, skin ages and skin tones. I am always open to a bride bringing her own products but 100% of the time, I already have it in my kit.
8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?
Skin assessment and skin prep is key to making any makeup application last, as well as the proper setting and sealing sprays
9. How long will makeup take on the day and how long will you be staying for on the day?
On the big day, I typically spend an hour on the bride and 30-45 minutes per person in the bridal party. Depending on what Bridal Package that was selected at booking, determines how long I'll stay once makeup is complete.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
According to my cancellation policy, deposits are non refundable and any booking cancelled within 30 days of the wedding is still due in full. In the event that a natural disaster occur, payments are applied to future dates. Lastly, (God forbid) a wedding gets called off and the bridal package was paid in full, the deposit amount will be kept and remaining balance will be refunded.
