1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hi There, I'm Kelli Thomsen, esthetician and clean beauty makeup artist from Portland, Oregon. I've been an advocate for eco-friendly product choices for over 15 years and am committed to human wellness. My business, including my artistry is fueled through my passion for excellence in serving others. I'm a huge supporter of consistency and creating confidence in others and I go above and beyond for my wedding parties. My goal when you sit in my chair is for you to learn something that inspires you, that you leave feeling pampered and beautiful and you look your best and are photo ready.
I encourage my brides to come see me so I can access their skin health. I share my top beauty and wellness products curated to heal, nourish and restore the skin and offer skin treatments to get the skin revitalized. The true magic for bridal makeup happens in the skin prep and when we do a trial run together, we'll create a custom look that naturally enhances your favorite attributes and looks incredible in camera.
2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?
I have been working with makeup and universal skin colors for over 20 years. I started really loving weddings early on, because I love helping others find their natural beauty and I gained a ton of experience with different skin tones and eye shapes working for Shiseido right out of college. I specialize in airbrush and I was the lead airbrush instructor at The Art of Makeup for Professionals in Portland, Oregon for 7 years. I have worked with hundreds of couples over the last 15 years and there isn't anything we aren't ready for to make sure their beauty expectations are met. We set a timeline for the day of services to make sure the day is peaceful and seamless. All of the artists that work beside me are experienced with any and all skin types, ethnicities, ages and people.

4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?
I lead a team of talented makeup and hair artists and we take 40 - 60 weddings per year. I've been working with couples for 13+ years and continue to have a passion for excellence in wedding day beauty. My team and I bring a calming and unforgettable experience and one thing that sets us apart is our dedication to sanitation and clean ingredient product choices. We don't cut any corners when it comes to the wedding day beauty experience. We bring chairs, professional lighting and are happy to stay for finishing touches.
During the trial run, I create a detailed face chart. I haven't ever had it happen, where I'm sick or cannot show up to a wedding, but it is stated in my contract that if I were to be sick or there was an emergency, I would have a replacement artist show up on time and they would be able to accommodate everything, as if it were me.
5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
I do charge a travel fee
$1 per mile/per car
Travel Time is charged at $20/per hour
These travel fees are incurred when we travel outside of Downtown Portland, Oregon (5 miles or more)
6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?
Yes, we do offer hair and makeup trial runs and encourage our couples to book the trial run appointment before the wedding day, for peace of mind and to make sure want they envision truly feels good on them.
Hair Trial Run $150 / Makeup Trial Run $150
7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?
I only use clean, non-toxic, cruelty-free products within my kit. I'm open to using the brides makeup products as long as they are brand new and they schedule a trial run and bring them brand new to the trial run and leave them with me. This is due to the current Covid-19 protocols and disinfecting steps that need to be taken seriously.
8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?
Skin prep is the #1 key to makeup looking flawless. I ask my couples and their bridal party many questions to learn about their skin, so I can understand how to best prep them. I also use a setting spray that works miracles in getting everything to set and stay for the day. Makeup being the correct color is so important and I have been a master of skin tones since my early days of being a makeup artist. Everyone on the team is trained in all skin tones and textures. We aim to create flawless, natural looks with good for you ingredients. Here is our list of trusted brands: https://kellithomsen.com/eco-products/

A retainer payment is due to book us for your wedding day and it is 33% of the total contracted services. This retainer payment is non-refundable. There are no cancellations within 120 days of the wedding day. Any changes can be made up to 120 days before the wedding day, as long as those changes are made in writing to me and we mutually agree to any and all updates.
When we are within 120 days of the wedding date, if any unforeseen circumstance or act of god situation happens, our couples will have one year to reschedule and move their balance to a new date, as long as I'm available for the new date. If a bridal party needs to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances that fall outside of the contract and there is not a refund option, I will roll any and all balances into services at my studio, minus the non-refundable retainer payment.
