1. Introduction: What's your story?
I decided to become an officiant after a best friend became engaged and asked me if I would be willing to perform their wedding. I felt honored to be asked to perform such a meaningful task for someone so close to me, and feel just as honored each and every time I am involved in any couples' special day. My primary job is working with people with disabilities, and I officiate weddings because I thoroughly enjoy being a part of couples' special days, not because I have to. I am extremely flexible and respectful of any wishes of a couple that I am working with, because after all, I am participating in their ceremony and not my own. I work tirelessly to ensure that the ceremony I am performing is reflective of the couple in front of me.
2. What's your experience as a wedding officiant? How many weddings have your officiated?
I've been officiating now for 11 years, and have performed over 600 ceremonies.
3. How far in advance do couples need to secure your services?
My services are usually booked 12-14 months in advance, but someone on my team is usually able to accomodate wedding dates that aren't as far in the future.
4. How would you describe your officiant style?
I'm very laid-back. I want the ceremony to reflect the couple standing in front of me, and not for me to stand out.
5. What are your fees for officiating a wedding?
In the Columbus area, the fee for a ceremony is $400; a 1 hour rehearsal can be added for $50 if desired.
6. What do you wear when you officiate a wedding?
A black suit, white shirt, and a dark tie (or a tie that coordinates with your colors, if requested).
7. How many pre-wedding sessions will the couple need to have with you?
Usually, I meet with a couple at the consultation, then we don't meet again in person until the rehearsal (though we work on the ceremony details between the consultation and the rehearsal). I'm happy to meet more often if a couple requests!
8. Will you be able to create a personalized ceremony?
One of the most common questions I am asked is whether or not I am flexible with my ceremonies, to which I always answer "Yes!". I like to start off by reviewing a number of different ceremonies with my clients, so I can get an idea of the couples' style and desires for their ceremony. Then, I help compile a ceremony that is unique to the couple and that incorporates any special touches that they desire, until we develop their perfect ceremony.
9. Are you available to travel if needed?
I perform weddings all over the state of Ohio with a travel charge.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
The deposit to hold a date/time is non-refundable. The remaining charge isn't due until 1 week prior to the wedding, so couples have a lot of flexibility.
