1. Introduction: What's your story?
I'm a girl from out west who fell in love with the south and made it her home! I moved from Arizona to North Carolina in 2011, and although I love to go back and visit, this state stole my heart! I'm married to the love of my life, Brian, and we parent 3 amazing kiddos together!
I am a creative spirit and photography lets me be creative and gives my life purpose with all the amazing memories I get to capture! If I could pick any job in the world, it would be this one!!
2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?
I started shooting in 2014 and have since shot over 100 weddings!
I only take a limited number of weddings each year (15-20) in order to best serve my amazing couples! I shoot all over the state, but I'm ALWAYS open to a destination wedding just about anywhere!
3. How would you describe your photography style?
My style is bright, classic and timeless! I want your photos to be vibrant and full of life, but also stand the test of time. So when you look back at your photos 10 years from now, they still look beautiful and full of life, not dated.
I'm a very hands on photographer when I need to be, and a fly on the wall when I don't. I want to capture every moment that needs posing, AND every in between moment that deserves to be captured as it's happening!
4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?
I can book out up to 18-24 months, so I usually encourage couples to reach out as soon as they have their date and venue selected! Couples with shorter engagements or smaller weddings can of course still reach out at any time to check date availability!
5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
My standard packages offer 6, 8 & 10 hour options, with the most popular being 8 hours. I'm always happy to customize a package for my couples with exactly what they need and are looking for! All of my packages come with an engagement session and couples can always add more time to their package as well! Additional hours of coverage are $300 per hour for the main shooter (myself) or $400 per hour for myself and my second shooter. A second photographer is also included in all packages!
6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?
I am the lead photographer for all weddings! I always shoot with a second photographer for a variety of reasons! Having a second photographer will not only give you two different angles on the day, but it also allows us to be in two places at once, so we can cover a lot more in the time we have! My second shooter is also essential for smooth family portraits as they help me gather and group everyone in a timely manner! For longer weddings or situations where we need an extra hand, I will also bring an assistant.
7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
There's no travel fee within an hour and a half of Cary. I shoot all over the state, country or world, and if you're planning a beach or mountain wedding, I would LOVE to come and capture this! Travel fees are custom to each situation and I'm always happy to figure up a custom travel quote for my couples. Travel and adventure are two of my biggest joys in this life, so if you have dreams of a wedding outside the Raleigh area, please take me with you!!
8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?
Packages include the wedding day with two photographers, a gallery full of fully retouched digital images and an engagement session. Prints and albums are offered ala carte, since there are so many options to choose from, and I want my couples to have exactly what they want! I absolutely love creating albums for my couples and do offer a discount if they add an album or wall art at the time of booking!
I highly encourage couples to invest in their first family heirloom and create an album, it will last generations! If my house caught fire today, my wedding album would be one of the things I would grab first (after the kids of course!)
9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?
All wedding galleries are delivered within 4-6 weeks after the wedding day and sooner for engagement sessions. I also post sneak peeks within a few days of the wedding and engagement session! Fully retouched images are delivered in a private online gallery with unlimited downloads and print rights! It's 2021, let's make these things easy!
Couples will also be able to order prints and wall art right through their gallery. I also offer a custom wall art design service to let you see your images on your wall in real size before you order anything!
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
If the wedding is straight up canceled, the deposit is non-refundable.
If the wedding is rescheduled to a new date that I have available, then I will move the deposit to the new date and send over a new contract. Easy Peasy. I do allow for a date change twice, after that a new deposit is required to secure the day.
If the wedding is rescheduled to a new date and I am NOT available, the couple can either cancel their contract with me (deposit is non-refundable) OR I can have an associate photographer shoot the day and I will still retouch the images so their images will still be true to jHagan's style. If a wedding needs to be rescheduled I always encourage my couples to float a few dates to me to see if I'm available before confirming with the venue. Of course, this isn't always possible and sometimes couples need to book a new date that works best for them. I always do my best to work with couples to see their dream day happen!
