1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hey there! My name is Kayla of Kayla Bowen Photography and I started my business in 2018 with a super basic website and a passion for taking photos. After graduating college and realizing that I didn't want to become a Counselor like I thought I would, I had no clue what I wanted to do. While working as a server, I picked up a camera that I had from college and started taking photos for fun. My cat was an amazing model, but I eventually started taking photos of my friends, couples, and eventually weddings. That's when I knew I found something I loved and could see myself doing for years. Having a couple include me in their wedding day to capture their most precious moments meant everything to me and I knew that wedding photography had stolen my heart. Here I am almost three years later, and I'm a full-time wedding photographer capturing weddings in Las Vegas and around the world and I wouldn't change it for anything!

2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

I've been photographing weddings since 2018 and I've photographed over 30 weddings in my career so far.

3. How would you describe your photography style?

My photography style is fun, bright, vibrant, classic, and true to color. On your wedding day, I will guide you through the whole process while we take photos with a mix of posed and candid poses. You'll be able to look back at your photos and remember your wedding day as it really happened because I photograph and edit each photo with a timeless, true to color approach. Your photos will never go out of style.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?

I recommend booking your photographer 1 to 1 1/2 years in advance because photographers are usually one of the first vendors to be chosen by couples, and most of my couples book me 12 - 15 months in advance. Most wedding photographers are busiest in the summer because the summer months have the nicest weather in most parts of the US. Because I'm based primarily in Las Vegas, however, my busiest time of the year for weddings is actually the Fall. September and October book up the quickest for me, with Saturdays being the most popular wedding day.

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

I offer three packages for my wedding clients: Package one includes 6 hours of photography, one photographer, a complimentary engagement session, and a custom wooden USB with a wooden keepsake box and an online gallery for $3,000. Package two is my most popular package and includes 8 hours of photography, two photographers, a complimentary engagement session, and a custom crystal USB with a glass keepsake box and an online gallery for $3,500. My highest package includes 10 hours of photography, two photographers, a complimentary engagement session, a custom crystal USB with a glass keepsake box, online gallery, and a custom 10x10 heirloom wedding album for $4,250. If a couple needs more than 10 hours of photography on their wedding day, each additional hour is $500.

Because of the pandemic, I also created a micro-wedding option for couples who are having a more intimate wedding. This package includes four hours of photography for 40 people or less and costs $2,000.

6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?

I am the lead photographer at Kayla Bowen Photography. If a couple purchases my most basic wedding package, I will be the only photographer photographing the wedding. If a couple purchases either of my other two packages, they both include a second photographer. I use a couple different photographers as my second shooters who all photograph amazing work.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

I mostly photograph weddings in Las Vegas and Oregon, but I happily photograph weddings everywhere! I'm photographing a wedding in Mexico next year that I'm extremely excited about. For destination weddings, I charge a travel fee that covers my plane ticket or mileage and my hotel. If the destination is somewhere that's on my bucket list, I will definitely consider giving the couple a discount.

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

Each package includes 20 4x6 prints and my highest package includes a custom 10x10 heirloom wedding album. Additional prints or albums can be added on to any wedding package.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?

According to my contract, the couple will receive their images 6-8 weeks after their wedding, but they're more likely to receive their images 4-6 weeks after their wedding. I put a little buffer time into the contract just in case I were to have an emergency or become ill. The couple will receive a sneak peek of their images within 48 hours and after I finish editing their entire gallery, I will send it to them in an online gallery that they can share with their friends or family. They will also receive a custom USB with all of their images and 20 4x6 prints in a keepsake box.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

If the client cancels their wedding contract with me, their 25% retainer will not be refunded because services were already rendered. If the client needs to change their wedding date, all money paid will transfer to the new date per a newly written and signed contract if I'm available on that date. The new date must be within three months of the original date or the new contract will be subject to my current rates. If the new date is unavailable with me, the contract will be canceled and the retainer will not be refunded. If the client terminates our contract within 60 days of the wedding, 50% of the wedding balance will be due. The client is allowed to reschedule their wedding date within one year from the original date, provided that I'm available, if their original date is legally not allowed to occur from a law or mandate related to COVID-19 with no additional fees.
