About Us
Baker & A Black Cat is a cottage bakery located near downtown Placerville, independently owned and operated by Nikki Ozawa. After graduating with high honors from Le Cordon Bleu in patisserie and baking, she interned in the Production Bakery at Epcot, Walt Disney World, opening her bakery after returning to the Greater Sacramento area. Nikki’s passion for the art of baking and her unique personal touches shine through everything she creates. From intricate wedding cakes to simple cupcakes, working with both buttercream and fondant elements, Baker & A Black Cat does it all!
If Nikki isn’t baking, you might find her snuggled up next to her cat Gambit, reading a book, or enjoying tater tots with friends at one of her favorite local eateries! With almost 10 years of experience in the industry, appearances on national blogs Wedding Chicks and Inspired By This, as well as placements in several local magazines, Baker & A Black Cat is honored to be considered one of the best wedding cake/dessert makers in the area. Incredible cakes from an outstanding person
Nikki was absolutely amazing as the baker for our wedding. She was a delight from the first e-mail exchange all the way into our actual wedding day.

For starters, for our cake tasting, she was well organized, had an incredible selection of flavors and was honest and upfront on what flavors blended best. We highly recommend the cookies & cream with red velvet. My wife's face exploded with joy the second it touched her tongue.
From there, Nikki was incredibly helpful and proactive in helping us realize our vision. She took the ideas that we were throwing around and came up with a cake design that was not only beautiful, but encapsulated the themes we personally were trying to project with our wedding. It was beautiful, delicious, and the experience working with her was fantastic from top to bottom. She's reliable, friendly, fun and the cakes are unlike anything else. We would highly recommend!
