What to expect during your ceremony.
Wedding Preparation
A New York State ceremony can’t take place until 24 hours after the marriage license is issued. The marriage license is then good for 60 days.
The Ceremony
Ceremonies last between 7-25 minutes.
Each wedding ceremony follows this general pattern:
Opening Welcome
A Prayer, Blessing or Reading
Speech to the Couple
Ring Exchange and Vows
Signing the Marriage License
Concluding Readings/Prayer/Blessing
Pronouncement
Pre-Ceremony
This is a rather simple process. Once we schedule your ceremony, I will send you a questionnaire to learn more about you and your partner in order to make the ceremony personal and meaningful.
Finalizing the Registration
Once everyone signs the marriage license, you will be legally married as of the date and time stated on the marriage license. At that moment, the license becomes your legal proof.
I will mail your marriage license for you. In New York City, the expected arrival of the Certificate of Marriage Registration is in 4 to 6 weeks.
